Practice Philosophy

Psychotherapy is not easily described in general statements. It varies depending on the personalities of the psychologist and patient, and the particular problems you bring forward. As a Certified Cognitive Behavior Therapist, I utilize a variety of evidence-based counseling tools and psychotherapeutic approaches that have been tested and demonstrated to be effective. CBT requires a collaborative effort on both our parts. In order for the therapy to be most successful, you will need to work between sessions on the things we discuss in therapy. Clients that follow through with this work typically find that they achieve desired results in a very time-efficient manner.

Fees

My fee is $175 for a 50-minute session. In addition to weekly appointments, I charge this amount for other professional services you may need. Other services include report writing, telephone conversations lasting longer than five minutes, attendance at meetings with other professionals you have authorized, preparation of records or treatment summaries, and the time spent performing any other service you may request of me. You will be expected to pay for each session at the time it is held, unless we agree otherwise or you are coming through the VA fee-based program.

Payment is by cash, check, Visa, MasterCard, AmericanExpress or Discover.

We accept VISA, Amex, MasterCard, Discover

Using Insurance

I am no longer directly contracted with any insurance provider. If you have a health insurance policy, it will usually provide some coverage for mental health treatment. I will help you fill out forms and provide you with whatever assistance I can in helping you receive the benefits to which you are entitled. However, you (not your insurance company) are responsible for the full payment of my fees. I will give you receipts that you can send to your insurance for reimbursement.

Office Hours

Daytime appointments are available starting at 8:30 AM. Please call or email to set up an appointment.

Cancellation Policy

I will usually schedule one 50-minute session (one “appointment hour” of 50 minutes duration) per week at a time we agree on, although some sessions may be longer or more frequent. Once an appointment hour is scheduled, you will be expected to pay for it unless you provide 48 hours advance notice of the cancellation. If you are more than 20 minutes late without calling, it will be considered a missed session. If you do not call within 24 hours of a missed session, any standing appointments will be cancelled and those time slots opened to other clients. If you miss or cancel three consecutive appointments without prior notice, your case will be closed. I will be happy to reopen it once all outstanding fees have been paid.

New Patient Paperwork

I ask all new patients to fill out these forms before they see me for the first time. You can download these forms and fill them out before the visit. I also provide blank forms in the waiting room that you can fill out before the first appointment.
