Depression robs people of their joy and energy, leaving them feeling lifeless and unable to function. Family members and coworkers get frustrated and confused as they watch loved ones and friends change from energetic to lethargic. Attempted solutions from others can backfire leaving the depressed person feeling even more depressed and guilty that they can’t “just snap out of it.” The good news is that there are effective treatments for depression.
This workshop outlines the symptoms of depression so that people can distinguish between feeling down for a day or two and being clinically depressed. It will also help others understand what the depressed person is experiencing. In addition the workshop covers effective treatments including Cognitive Therapy, which uses no medications and has a very low relapse rate. Finally it will discuss methods to find help.
